หัวข้อ : MSN Spaces censored in China

In a move that's set the world of civil rights advocates and libertarians aflame, the newly opened Chinese MSN Spaces service by world giant Microsoft censors content such as 'freedom', 'Taiwan independence' and 'Mao Zedong'.
While the world of blogs and public forums was quick to point the finger and attack Microsoft for this seeming breach of civil rights charts, it would have perhaps been wiser to stop and consider that the Redmond-based outfit, makers of the Windows operating system, is little more than a business, and does not (yet) have the power to make governements change their policies.
It is the Chinese governement that applies such restrictions on freedom of speech in their own country, and Microsoft, if they wish to do business in the world's second largest internet market, they have to comply to such regulations. The indignation is justified, and the censorship of such simple concepts such as 'freedom' is something that needs to be decried, but how about we pick the right target, the next time?
